What to Expect
Who I work with
I work with people of all genders, ages, sexual orientations and races/ethnicities. I work with individuals, couples and ENM constellations.
What to expect from couples therapy
Couples come to therapy at various stages of a relationship. Perhaps there is a particular change that you are struggling to navigate together. You may be stuck in a relational pattern or finding that you fall into the same argument or complaint without resolution. Maybe sex or differing levels of desire are becoming a problem in the relationship.
Therapy helps couples to break out of patterns that are harming the relationship and establishes better communication and more enjoyable intimacy. Couples therapy can be challenging as I will invite you to break away from habits, listen to your partner’s experience and come forward with your authentic thoughts and needs. I may use relational exercises in session or set tasks to be completed as homework. Though sometimes hard work, couples therapy can be transformational for a relationship and has the potential to unlock huge fulfilment for each partner.
What to expect from sex therapy
Experiencing an issue with sex or sexuality can be enormously upsetting and damaging to self esteem. Maybe you are experiencing difficulty in your relationships as a result. Or perhaps you have lived with a sexual issue for a while and have decided that now is the time to understand it better and work towards a goal. Maybe you have questions about your sexuality or gender identity and are seeking a safe environment in which to explore them.
Sex therapy helps individuals to understand why they may be struggling with sex. Sometimes this understanding alone is enough to resolve the issue or to ease anxiety around sexual experiences. For others, I may set homework to be completed between sessions to re-establish a connection between mind and body or to help you to explore what might be contributing to the problem. Therapy is a wonderful way to learn about and build a healthy relationship with oneself, to improve self-esteem, and have fulfilling sexual experiences.
